The Goldendoodle is a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle. Goldendoodles are very friendly, smart, and love their humans.
Coat:
Goldendoodles can have a straight, wavy, or curly coat depending on the generation and parents used. Most Goldendoodles tend to shed very little if any at all (straighter coats can be prone to more shedding). An F1B or higher generation Goldendoodle is recommended for those with mild pet allergies.
The Goldendoodle coat will require frequent brushing when grown out and is fairly easy to maintain when trimmed. A Goldendoodles coat is different than a double coated dog and can be shaved without damaging the hair. We recommend daily brushing and professional grooming every 6-8 weeks to avoid tangles and matting.
Appearance:
Goldendoodles come in a variety of colors depending on the parents used, including golden, red, black, and merle. We focus mainly on red and apricot abstract (white markings) Goldendoodles and we will have merle every now and then.
Size:
We breed Moyen & Standard size Goldendoodles. Moyen Goldendoodles average 30-50lbs and Standard Goldendoodles average 50-70lbs. Females tend to be smaller than males.
Temperament:
Goldendoodles love people and also get along great with other pets, and they tend to be patient and gentle with young children — making them a fantastic choice for families.
Training:
Goldendoodles are intelligent and training must be done with rewards, firmness, patience and consistency. Basic training should start as soon as you take your Goldendoodle puppy home.
Activity:
The Goldendoodle is an easy going breed who will need daily walks and exercise. They will require mental stimulation to prevent boredom and destruction in the home. They have a low to medium energy level and are perfect for those who like to get outdoors but also enjoy lounging around the house.
